Crab Apple |
This is my little crab apple tree I have grown from seed. Maybe next year it will be ready to bloom and produce a few crabs. A couple of years ago I was able to get some crab apples from a lady in Portland. We went and pick about 30 pounds, brought home, crushed and pressed them and started them up. As the pressing were sitting there, I thought of my mom and how she always grew from seeds. I figured what the heck why not give it a try. So I grabbed about a large marble size cluster of the goo and took and split it up into a few pots of soil. They sprouted and I must have tended to them a little, because I got at least one to grow. I'm not sure what kind of crab apple it is, but I can't wait to see what comes of it.
The crab apples are used in what I think of as American Cider. Fresh and spritely.
