Empty Nester? --- Pooshaw!

Duckies a week before Easter

Yes, my girl will be graduating high school soon, but thank goodness is planning on staying at home for at least a couple more years to go to school local, as she figures out what she wants to do in life.  She's my last one at home, so there is certainly no hurry.  Not pushing her out of the nest just yet.

But boy am I ever feeling the "empty nester" syndrome coming on anyway.  For Easter we got some little ducks and yes they were for me.

I feed and tend to them.  And when I say tend, I mean constantly refill their water.  For now the girls are in a little heated pen, Howard made up.  It has mesh on the bottom so their droppings and all their water can just fall through on the tray below.

They're growing fast, now at about 2 1/2 weeks old, they're getting their tail feathers.  For the amount of water they go through, I think that is what sustains them and puts the weight on???  They're all about the water, they eat, but are so much more into the water.  I'll talk to Fran down at Burns Feed Store to find out when they can get their first bath, I know they'll love it.

Fran is always full of helpful information about the baby chickens, ducks and turkeys.  I'm glad she's there for us.
