Year of the Goat

Wendi, our sweet natured queen
How fun this year is the Year of the Goat.  February 19, 2015 will be the start of the Chinese New Year, so is quickly approaching.  In celebration I will be posting pictures of my beloved goats.  They're all of the Lamancha milk goat breed, with a very sweet, friendly personality.  They always welcome our guests requesting pets and interaction.  This is Wendi.  We've had her the longest and she has become the queen of the herd.  It is her disposition that has dominated the herd and encouraged their quiet, peaceful, friendly interactions with people.  Very much like a healthy queen in our hives, she encourages harmony in the herd.

On a winery note, our Red Honey wines aka Red Pyments have further developed nicely in the bottle over the winter, and our Oregon Hard Knocks (apple honey wines with herbs) are also doing good.  I had bottled, a small amount of the apple honey wines for recent get togethers, but most continue to clear and will be ready for the market in the spring.

Leaning Star Winery offers small batches of handcrafted fruit/honey wines.  Our winery is located on the outskirts of Gresham, Oregon, a short jaunt to the freeways in all directions. Learn more about Leaning Star Winery or send us an email and contact us.
