Pairing Apple Wine with Turkey Meatballs, and Cab Sauv with Chocolate Caramel

Turkey meatballs with Apple Wine
Today in the area of Gresham, Oregon this day in late February was misty and a little rainy after several days of sunshine.  I decided for dinner to do a little more on the "homemade" side. We had the turkey meatballs (made with chopped collards (just about the only thing in the garden right now), onions, garlic and mushrooms) and a salad best with the blue cheese dressing and homemade hot peppa' sauce (recipe compliments of Howard's sister Marcia).  Howard does what Howard does and drank his with the Cabernet Sauvignon, because that's what he likes.  But he did agree it paired better with the Apple Wine. We had ice cream with a homemade caramel sauce (both plain and chocolate) with sea salt and walnuts over ice cream.  Even I had to admit the cab went awesome with the chocolate caramel.

Speaking of nuts, my friend Barbra said she found a pecan tree that grows good in the Northwest.  I love pecans.  Especially with ice cream, or with my morning oatmeal with raisins or chopped dried cherries.   I'll have to look into this.  I may need just one more tree.
